Once you buy your air mattress, your vendor or the manufacturer may pack in a pump for you or not, and thus it’s essential to know other tricks to get the mattress inflated. The pump may also get spoilt over time due to the deterioration of its components, and replacing is not important as long as you have your way around it.
The fact that you do not have a pump should not deter you from the comfort of lying on your air mattress. Here are some few ways on how you can blow up your air mattress without a pump:
Vacuum cleaner
A vacuum cleaner has a blow setting on it and thus can be used to blow air into your mattress. It’s important to note that not all vacuum cleaners blow air because some are meant to only such, and thus you need one with the setting. You need to plug in your vacuum to your socket and ensure that the nozzle is directed towards the air valve on your air mattress. Once you are set, turn on the vacuum and use moderate pressure blow to inflate your air mattress. It should take a minute or so depending on the size of the air mattress, and once you are done, close the valve lay to rest.
Hairdryer
Your hair dryer that may be hanging around your bedroom can also be of good use when inflating your air mattress. Hairdryers blow warm air to your hair and evaporate water in it after you are done washing. The fact that it blows air means that you can use it to inflate your mattress. However, it’s important to ensure that you do not hold it against the valve because it can melt the plastic on it, and as you try to inflate your mattress, you may end up damaging it. Turn on the dryer and place it a few centimeters away from the valve to blow air in it. You may use a moderate blow because you have all the time to ensure you inflate the mattress and not get it damaged as well.
Binbag
An unused or clean bin bag can also do the magic for you. First, make sure that there are no holes or perforations before blowing the air inside it. After the bag is full of air by swinging it or blowing, hold the upper open part tight like you’re trapping the air inside then carefully make an insertion in the air mattress. Once you manage to do so, squeeze your bin bag that is full of air to transfer into the mattress without letting go. Do this several times till your mattress is full.
